This October, we invite you to walk alongside Roberto, the Mission's nurse, as he travels beyond the last paved road into the community of Maytorena. Through these photographs and stories, you'll meet the people whose lives are touched each month by compassion, faith, and your generosity.

On a Saturday morning, Roberto, the Mission’s nurse, begins another journey into the Sonoran Desert. When he arrives in the small community of Maytorena, Sonora, Mexico, people wait and recognize the van's sound.

Roberto carries each carefully prepared medication package, already labeled with the patient’s name. He pauses to greet each person, exchange a few words, and make certain they receive exactly what they need before continuing down another dusty road.
For many, this visit is more than a delivery of medicine; it is the reassurance that they are remembered.

Every photograph tells the story of a person, a family, or a place where your generosity has brought hope. These are the faces, homes, and surroundings of the people living with diabetes in Maytorena. Through your support, compassion has reached beyond the last paved road and into their daily lives.
Roberto makes one final stop at a neighborhood SIX store. Inside waits the store’s owner, a trusted partner in the Mission’s outreach. Together they review the remaining medications prepared for patients who were not home. She willingly safeguards each package until it can be placed into the right hands. One more example of neighbors helping neighbors.
As Roberto begins the drive back toward Guaymas, the dusty roads remain behind him, but so do families now with the medication they need. Through your generosity, you have walked beside them, carrying compassion beyond the last paved road.
